The Bronx "2006"

Well The Bronx are back with another self titled cd. That's right still no album title. Oh well it doesnt affect their ability to make amazing rock songs taking bits of styles from 80's punk, post hardcore, and flat out rock. The new Bronx cd has the same integrity as their previous and it just as enjoyable. The only difference between the albums is that the new release has a couple slower tracks that the last release left out. This does not affect the overall record, in fact it shows more range from the band. They are no longer thought of as making 12 rock songs that sound similar with a catchy beat and gritty vocals. Now they are that band with the ability to slow it down when it needs it. This album has one of the better rock sounds of the year. For a year with lackluster performances by good bands, and cloned out emo and metalcore bands that all sound and look the same, The Bronx is a band that is worth paying attention to. Key songs include: Transsexual Blackout, White Guilt, History's Stranglers, and Around the Horn

Tv on the Radio -- Return to Cookie Mountain

Tv on the Radio are back after an extended time period with their new album Return to Cookie Mountain. The album features soulful songs similar to their previous works and also includes funky, beat heavy songs like "Snakes and Martyrs." The only suffering this album has is in the fact that versions of it have been leaked for some time now. All songs accredited in this critique are based on the titles of the songs i own. If they change then the reader will have to adjust. In either case the album in phenomenal and should be purchased not downloaded by all fans of music. Songs of interest are Playhouses, Province, Wolf Like Me, and Snakes and Martyrs. The track Province also includes backup vocals by a little known musician named David Bowie who accredits TVOTR as one of the best up and coming bands out there. Check this album out, may be the premier release of 2006.
